Qualitative oil must possess such properties that allow to perform all its functions. The main, but not the only function of the oil in the engine is its lubricating properties. Dozens of co-operating metal parts of the engine must be separated by a layer of oil of appropriate thickness and strength. The insufficiency of the olive layer leads to the direct contact of metal - metal, and as a result - to excessive wear of the engine. In modern engine designs, manufacturers tend to reduce frictional forces so as to achieve maximum performance and extend the life of the engine. The main role in this case is motor oil.
Another important function of the oil in the engine is its work as an element that facilitates the removal of heat, which occurs not only as a result of the process of combustion of fuel, but also during friction. Studies show that 5-10% of the heat generated by the engine is formed by friction nodes. Therefore, on most sports, and not only, motorcycles additionally install an oil cooler.
In addition to the above functions, it should be noted that the oil as a result of work in the engine subject to the process of oxidation, aging and mechanical destruction. The products of oxidation and mechanical destruction of oils form sludges, coke and varnishes that can change the physical and chemical properties of oils. In this regard, motor oil must be characterized by stability to oxidation, to withstand the formation of sludge, to keep the engine clean, and also to protect against corrosion. During the engine operation, combustion products and water come into the oil, and in this regard it should also be characterized by stability to foaming.
The surfaces of the walls of the cylinders and piston rings are never perfectly smooth. As a result, there are difficulties with the corresponding pressure in the combustion chamber, as well as the exhaust fumes in the engine crankcase. Here an engine oil serves as an auxiliary part, which serves as an additional seal. The layer of oil on the surface of the cylinder walls, in addition to reducing friction, densifies the combustion chamber.
It should be borne in mind that the oils used in motorcycle engines, due to higher speeds than those in the engines of the automobile, should be different from high-temperature stability, that is, they should not change their parameters at high revs and temperatures.

Можно ли смешивать масла различных видов и производителей?

Одна из ошибок некоторых автомобилистов заключается в уверенности, что смешивать минеральное моторное масло с синтетической нельзя. Это не так. Сам факт существования полусинтетического масла опровергает эту теорию. Переходить с минералки на синтетику (и обратно) можно, однако нужно соблюдать определенные правила:

    
минеральные масла совместимы с полусинтетическими, а также с ГСМ гидрокрекинга;
    
практически любая минеральное масло может быть совмещена с синтетической полиальфаолефинованим (ПАО)
    
другие синтетические масла (полиэфирные, гликолевые, силиконовые и т. п.) могут быть совместимы с минеральными - это зависит от их строения. Допустимость перехода с минерального масла на один из вышеперечисленных лучше уточнить у официального представителя производителя автомобиля.

    
По большому счету, одним из важнейших параметров, который нужно учитывать при переходе с одной масла на другую - присадки. Это химически активные вещества, которые добавляются в масло в виде наборов (пакетов) и, собственно говоря, формируют основные свойства моторного масла. Чтобы свести к минимуму возможные риски при изменении типа масла, нужно чтобы наборы присадок совпадали, поскольку даже после того, как старая масло была слита, некоторая его часть (5-10%) все равно остается в двигателе в виде пленки на деталях. Соответственно, химические реакции с новой маслом неизбежны. Но что же делать, ведь склады основы и присадок у каждого производителя свои? Ответ прост - лучше переходить на масло с другими характеристиками от того же производителя, чем на масло с одинаковыми параметрами, но разных производителей.

Куда девается масло из мотора?

    Масло - это расходный материал, который в процессе эксплуатации автомобиля растекается во внутренних элементах двигателя и прогорает. Соответственно, его становится меньше и время от времени его нужно доливать. Это нормальный процесс. Причем, процесс проверки уровня масла и его доливка очень простой. Проверку нужно проводить через 3-5 минут после остановки двигателя (автомобиль должен стоять на ровной поверхности). Выньте измерительный щуп, протрите его насухо тканью без волокон, вставьте щуп обратно и через пару секунд снова выньте. Уровень масла должен находиться между отметками MIN и MAX на щупе. Расстояние между отметками соответствует примерно 1 литру масла. Если его уровень существенно ниже отметки MAX, масло нужно долить. Важно также, чтобы после доливки уровня масла не превышал отметку MAX.

    Если двигатель исправен, расход правильно подобранного моторного масла будет несущественной и, как следствие, часто его доливка не потребуется. А вот если масло не соответствует требованиям производителя, его расход может увеличиться, не говоря уже о том, что сам силовой агрегат будет чувствовать себя не очень комфортно. Но бывает и так, что масло исчезает очень быстро, несмотря на то, что все подобрано верно. Связано это может быть как с износом двигателя, так и с рядом неисправностей, через которые масло стекает из двигателя.
    Одна из самых распространенных причин стремительного исчезновения масла - течи. Все элементы уплотнений двигателя (сальники, прокладки и т. д.) являются потенциальными местами протечек моторного масла. Причины появления течи - износ материала, из которого они сделаны, или его механическое повреждение (например, при неосторожном ремонте).
    Другая причина - угар масла. Диагностировать его можно по появлению сизого дыма в выхлопе, который заметен даже при использовании бензина высокого качества. Если масло выгорает в течение нескольких дней, на кромке выхлопной трубы появляется вязкая пленка темного цвета. Причин чаду несколько, и они могут быть определены только в автосервисе при разборке двигателя. Но прежде чем отдавать автомобиль в ремонт при обнаружении одного из вышеперечисленных признаков, стоит обратить внимание на 2 фактора: изменение стиля вождения и смена марки используемого моторного масла. Если угар стал заметен только после того, как двигатель длительное время работал на повышенных оборотах, и впоследствии не проявлялся, скорее всего, причин для беспокойства нет. Чем выше обороты, тем выше температура движущихся элементов мотора. Соответственно, масло теряет густоту, большее его количество остается в цилиндрах и сильнее выгорает. Что же касается смены марки масла, то появление чада в данном случае вполне нормальное явление в течение первых 2-3 дней. Если потом она исчезла - все в порядке. Дело в том, что пакеты присадок, используемые в разных марках масла, могут вступать в реакцию между собой, поскольку часть старого масла всегда остается в двигателе даже после его тщательной промывки. Результатом этой реакции иногда становится временное разжижение масла и повышенное выгорание.
